It might be of use as a washing solvent, but nothing else in particular.

Recently came across the same stuff and saw in merck that it is miscible with water. If one was pursuing a reaction that generally called for THF/water or DMF/water as solvent system, and terminal alcohols weren't an issue for the reaction, couldn't it be used in place of THF or DMF?

Could be being completely ignorant here. Part of the reasoning comes from seeing ethylene glycol monomethyl ether being used in rxns.

Another name for it would be ethyleneglycol monobutyl ether, so it should behave analogous to the monomethyl ether. Not many rxns call for that one though.
