      help with pump rating (gast)

AFOAF saw this pump,

Will it be good enough for the job??.

Model number of pump is 0522-129-G314DX. Could not find exact pump in manufactures catalog. Closest match for this pump has the following specifications: Free air flow of .6 cfm 60Hz, Maximum pressure of 15 psi, Maximum vacuum of 335 mbar.

Will this 'cut the mustard'????

What will water come over at, running full vac,

tnx

      Find your info

"Closest match" doesn't tell much about your pump. Call the manufacturer. On my page you have conversion tools for different pressure units (link at the bottom of the page). You want 25 mmHg or better vacuum, which is the same as a water aspirator delivers.

my impression of most of those little gast...

my impression of most of those little gast pumps is they aren't worth the shipping, let alone purchase price. You want an oil pump.

We are all just witnesses.

      No good

If the minimum absolute pressure is 335 mbar, it ain't no good.

A rotary vane pump is what you are after. The achievable vacuum depends on how many stages the pump has and how well engineered it is.

      Gast Pumps

I have seen a Gast pump employed to hold a door open.

For such purposes, they are excellent.
