I searched in TFSE for this under "sassafras import*", but the last time it was discussed was last year, and I know sassafras has been made illegal in the US since then, so I'm posting this to get updated info.
Has anyone had luck importing sassafras oil into the US in small amounts, like 16 or 32 oz bottles, in the past couple of months? Some suppliers really don't give a shit about US laws, they want to sell products and make money, so the only real problem is getting the package past US customs. I wonder how they screen packages. They simply don't have the resources to open all packages, so they must have a system to select probable of suspicious packages or something.

From what i understand sassy oil isn't illegal, its just that for companys to be able to sell it they need permission from the dea. And after they get thaty permission they just need to send the dea any and all informaiton about the ppl who purchase it.
So if the oil is confiscated, then you cant really get in trouble for it right? Its just confiscated and you lose your money. So my post really doesnt answer your questions, it just asks more questions heh.
Overall, can you get in trouble for tryin to import a litre? And if its confiscated, one could always just try again with the only downside being possibly losing your money, right bees?

it would seem that if you purchase sassy oil then you probably end up on a data base...now that's ok as long as the dea don't get hold of it...i remember reading lately about a perfume company who gave their client list to the cops and a whole bunch of people are now being sodomised in a little cell on a daily basis(not sure what happens to girls in prison)...ok if you like anal sex...
so, in conclusion, if you enjoy anal sex and confined spaces then by all means buy sassy on the net...i'm only joking...i wouldn't have a clue really(this is not a generalised statement)

sassy is an explainable purchase get a friend to pick it up it can be used for its intended purpose too i cant see small ammounts being a cause for a dea search they need authorisation for that.If you want keep it at a friends before you make your soap out of it. you could buy two bottles at seperate times one with safrole one wityhout and switch the contents making the dea look silly during any search.

i said i was joking and really wouldn't have a clue...but the story about the perfume company ratting on their clients is true and i know a person who was busted making mda and it only took one little reciept...i know it's improbable that you will get done over a litre or two...in my post i was primarily concerned with making jokes about anal sex...anyway, my busted friend (and now dead friend due to a mysterious accident during an ephedrine rxn) would probably tell you that you are safe as long as nothing unforseen happens...just don't let anything stupid happen!!! have fun

my recomondation is have a friend who does not cook anything and hasn't been to jail for drugs before buy it for you, (have it both shipped to them and paid for with there credit card).
instruct them with a plausable explanation of why there buying it in the event their questioned, and mostly make sure they do not admit to ANY knowledge of drugs (other then what your typical soccer mom might know from watching the evening news), or the names of any other people they know if questioned.
but if you buy it, and youve also been buying reagents, labware etc and the dea checks you out, your fucked.

if you think sass oil is worth it,y not get a map, a shovel, and hatchet and get it yourself? get a raft, go to a lake in the woods of SE Missouri, start hacking at exposed roots, and transport the bark to the location of your choice? maybe you could find it profitable, for legal uses only of course. they're still making camphor from cinnamomum in asia and still separating the safrole from it. i'm sure it can be found and smuggled for a price.

just keep it safe , when ordering stuff if you have to , get a fake id , to get a po box under a false name. then use money orders , with that po box. it probaly be smarter to get a po box like not close to your house , or in your city , and like few citys over. so if they got your face on camera.
