Bisulfite test. Clarification of Failure Result? | Bookmark | ||||||
Just to confirm, a bisulfite test failure would be a lack of any crystal formation correct? Does safrole react with sodium bisulfate in ANY way? If a person were to get white crystals there can be only one answer? - That it is ketone? Thanks for the help in advance! |

If you didn't get any crystals, then that would be a failure. It takes awhile for the crystals to form and you must shake hard. There was a thread about this about a week or so ago. Safrole will not react with bisulfite. Bisulfite reacts with ketones. I went into the business for the money, and the art grew out of it.-Charlie Chaplin |

Also, take a look at Post 429324 (Barium: "PTC for bisulfite-adducts", Methods Discourse) Perhaps you could post some results on that method? |
