      safrole + performic = ???

let us suppose that an isomerization failed and safrole was reacted with performic acid instead of iso-safrole, what would the product be? or would safrole come through unreacted?

thanks in advance

I seems to remember the chief once described...

I seem to remember the chief once described that scenario...

I think the conclusion was that you might get max 10% yield of MDP2P, where the main product would be "MDP3P"(or whatever it is called with the ketone-group at the end of the chain).

So isomerize correctly please smile

if it is MDP3P it doesn't seem to want to form

if it is MDP3P it doesn't seem to want to form a bisulfite adduct or the MP of the bisulfite adduct is very low

The allyl isomer shows only low reactivity...

The allyl isomer shows only low reactivity towards peracids. UTFSE, it has been discussed 1.0E3 times before.
