      5-methyl-5-propylbarbituric acid from somas

This college chemistry test has a question in the beginning of section IV on making 5-methyl-5-propylbarbituric acid (a sleep-inducing barbituate) from carisoprodol.

I am not enough of a chemist to figure out what reactions are being performed and how to find out proper reaction conditions, but I'll keep looking.  But, what is that chemical that looks like acetone but with NH2 goups in place of each terminal carbon? Does anyone know about the pharmacology and abuse potential of this compound? Thanks

not of any recreational interest- but synthetic, urea is a wonderful tool for many things.

Act quickly or not at all.
