I2 from NaI via electro reduction ?

I was reading posts on recovering iodine from reactions in the form of NaI salt
there was a lot of talk of using HCL and H2O2 to get back I2
but wouldn’t it be simpler to just hook up two graphite rods (i.e. pencil leads) to a oversupply and let I2 drop out
maybe a little acid (citric or the like) could be added to help remove the Na ions so they aren’t continually reduced as well

      This Thread Somewhat Covers That

Post 70315 (fudgemonkey: "iodine tinc goodbye to povidone.", Stimulants)

ALthough it begins concentrating on getting I2 from tinctures there is some stuff about reclaiming used iodine from reactions further up in the thread.

Without the existence of idiots geniuses would simply vaporize into thin air

Well that has shown me a few things it seams...

Well that has shown me a few things
it seams to me that carbon would still be best, you would want to get one of the high carbon pencils if that’s the way you chose to get carbon
12B I think is just about pure carbon (it draws on glass)
then if your I2 still sticks to the carbon then soak in a bit of alcohol, in fact a wash with some alcohol would help to remove allot of salts that may have formed (not NaI though)
