Possible five-step process for PEA´s?  Bookmark

Patent US5047592

This patent covers the manufacturing of N-alkylated PEA´s from scratch.
With a little modification I believe for example 2C-H could be made by this process.

Acylation of p-dimethoxybenzene with alpha-chloroacetic anhydride to 2-chloro-1-(2,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-ethanone. This acetophenone is then allowed to react with an excess benzylamine to give 2-benzylamino-1-(2,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-ethanone hydrochloride, which possibly could be further acylated to 1-acetoxy-2-benzylamino-1-(2,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-ethane, the acetoxy group removed with NaBH4 to give 2-benzylamino-1-(2,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-ethane (N-benzyl-2C-H). The N-benzyl group could then be removed by CTH (ammonium formate/Pd-C) to give 2C-H.

What I like about this process is the lack of NO2-reductions.
