Ethyl Acetate From Polish Remover
Swims got some Non Acetone Polish Remover.
Ingredients are in order listed: - Ethyl Acetate - Demineralised Water - Alcohol
Now Ethyl Acetate shouldnt be miscible with water but this solution is not layered. So either the alcohol is making it miscible or there is only trance amounts of water and alcohol.
Swim took some and added water and watched as the ethyl acetate moved to the top. If swim decanted the ethyl acetate from the top do bees thinkg this would be clean enough because the alcohol would stay in the water, or would there still be alcohol in the ethyl acetate?

You cannot separate ethyl acetate and ethanol by distillation. But distill it anyway.

Excatly, that was my point, there is ethanol in it. Ethanol and ethyl acetate together.... you try distilling that, BP are bout the same yeah?
So is there any way of removing ethanol from ethyl acetate i should of really asked?
The only way i can think of is washing the ethyl acetate with water several times then dry over dried epsom salts as the ethyl acetate holds some water. Does this sound workable?

Azeotropes
Ethanol, ethyl acetate and water all form binary azeotropes, and a ternary azeotrope as well; so distillation is pointless until you extract the ethanol and water with saturated brine The crude ethyl acetate is then dried with calcium chloride and fractionally distilled
Chemistry is our Covalent Bond
