Can anybody elaborate on the decomposition of cyanates to cyanides by heating? KCNO -heat-> KCN + CO (supposed to take place below 800*C) aurelius doesn't have the access to J. Prakt. Chem. 1877 (ii) 16, 201 or J. Prakt. Chem. 1880 (ii) 21, 77 the main concerns being what is the minimum decomposition temperature for this rxn? Does it need to be free of N2 or O2 to work? Are there any particularly hazardous fumes evolved? Also, can somebody elaborate on the decomposition of K/Na ferrocyanides to Fe, C and the respective cyanide salt? main concerns At what temperature does this decomposition take place? Hazardous fumes? |
