Will NaI react with Zn? | Bookmark | ||||||
Well, here's my question for the day. If someone had a refluxing slurry of Zn dust and NaI powder in toluene or xylene, would the NaI react with the Zn? It is seductive, way too seductive. -Eleusis |

No reaction will occur. Especially not under a non-polar solvent. I'm sure it would occur in aqueous enviroment, but under the criteria that you used ionized form of zinc, meaning Zn(2+) not zinc-dust, dust is still Zn (s) you know and I don't think it will react... By the way, i think that this discussion should be carried out in the Newbee forum... "Turn on, Tune in and Drop Out" |
