Ok, would it be fine to use the following ratio in the nano method? 1g Pseudo 1g I2 0.5g RP (Not PREFIRED) 4 drops Peroxide?? BTW, He does UTFSE otherwise he would not be asking! Forgive the Newbie - Martian_A |

No it doesn't need to be prefired, I forget what purpose it is supposed to serve, not a necessary one though as long as you are competent in acquiring or scraping your RP. No, those ratios are pie in the sky, you wish you could only use that amount and get away with it. 1g Ephedrine 2g Iodine 2g Red Phosphorous That is if your really struggling with getting alot of precursors, and just use a few drops of water, or just use wet I2 instead of adding water at all. I know that is't accurately controlling the reaction, but if you want to bend the laws of science and chemistry that is how you do it. --Word on the street is, You Reap What You Sow |

No, those ratios are not ideal
Add to your flask or test tube in this order: 1g pseudoephedrine 1.5g iodine 1ml distilled water Ensure that the pseudoephedrine, iodine, and water are thoroughly mixed, and then add 0.8g matchbook-grade red phosphorus. Lightly reflux for 12 hours or longer. H2O2 is unecessary. Edit: Lucid_Reaper seems to have beaten me to a response. Both his and my ratios are fine. There are no exact amounts. nano ratios
I like Jackhole's nano ratios and advice. If newbees wanting to do a nano would follow his advice and disregard the Curbshot method, they would have better success with fewer failures. The same principle applies to nano reactions as applies to larger ones-- the reaction needs water and time to complete. Give it time to simmer and it will reward you. Hurry it up and you will have failures, poor yields, and less pure product. If you add the water Jackhole suggests, the reaction is not going to finish in an hour and a half. So what? Let it simmer overnight. You will like the results. mostly harmless |
