Diethylsulfate vs. sodiumethylsulfate | Bookmark | ||||||
Hi! According to rhodiums page, there are many ways to make nitroethane. The two most interesting ones are the sodiumethylsulfate and diethylsulfate route. The first one has been discussed for a longer perion on this page. It looks like the diethylsulfate synth is a bit easier than the sodiumethylsulfate synth. What do you think about this? Is it just something in the text that is not as easy as it sounds, or ...? How about yeild per unit of time? What is more feasible there? There are also some things in the diethylsulfate synth, that is not quite clear: Should the RBF containing the sodium sulfate, be put under vacuum, before adding the ethanol/sulf. acid soln.? That would make it quite hard to add soln nice and quite. How long time should it be allowed to react, before distilling? Any pitfalls or dangers that i have not foreseen, would be gladly acceptet! Thanks! Regards Peter |
