Can someone please explain something to me? =)  Bookmark

I haven't been on in a long time but was reading over one of my old posts... and realized I have no clue the exact conditions (temp.) for converting: 1-hydroxycyclophenyl-(2-Cl-Ph)-ketone-N-methlymine to ketamine... would some one please help...

Also if swim had a HCl salt of that compound (1-hydroxycyclophenyl-(2-Cl-Ph)-ketone-N-methlymine) would he/she have to first convert it to free base or would the product of the reaction give you ketamine HCl?  I would assume so but not sure...

      Salt or freebase?  Bookmark

You would very likely have to freebase it before performing the thermal rearrangement, as the imine which you now have in its salt form is at the very center of where the rearrangement of the molecule is going to take place.
