don't know if you've seen this yet, but this is a new N-alkylation procedure using NaBH4 and the carboxylic acid that corresponds to the alkyl groups you'd like to add. (eg: ethyl, acetic acid) http://www.rsc.org/ej/CS/1998/Z9827395.p
