Yep, this was the URL : Post 36590 (LaBTop: "Patent and chemistry research", Newbee Forum) and Synthman send me an 'thank you' PM for it, I hope he has saved it, because when I opened it from my Favorites folder, the synchronized version was changed to the "We cannot proceed" version, so empty. (Stupid bug in windows!) That was 3 days work, who has done that ? Synthman, can you repost it in here ? Th.i.adv. LT/

And what is this thing, here in the serious chemistry forum, found it in my Temporary Internet Files : http://counter2.bravenet.com/counter.php?id=334132&ref=http://hive.lycaeum.org/wwwthreads/perl/showflat.pl?Cat=&Board=serious&Number=30089&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5 The counter reads 19, and it expired 8/7/2000 11:31 PM, and was last accessed 8/7/2000 11:30 PM, exactly 1 minute before it expired. The name of the file is: showflat.pl?Cat=&Board=serious&Number=30089&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5 It is a GIF image, 3 KB big. Can someone tell me what that thing is doing here ? LT/
Yes, I can, it's probably coming from the URL firestorm posted in MacHeath's thread "The Merck Index...Warez'd" (nr 30089). I visited that URL at that time, so it is not the source of the magical disappearance of my post. LT/

Hello LABTOP,
This is the lost post in SERIOUS CHEMISTRY about PATENTS & CHEMISTRY RESEARCH.
An admirator who would like to thank you for the great work you've done in the past and in the HIVE. Thanks.
(Someone who seems to know me longer, thanks for sending me this ! It took me another hour again to reformat it again. Rhodium, you should look for clowns or clumsies, I don't believe in too many coincidences, LT/ ) ------------------------------------------------------------
Patent and chemistry research
Rhodium, as you asked me for it, here it is :
Abbreviations used in Esp@ceNet :
AT = Austria AU = Australia BE = Belgium CA = Canada CH = Switzerland CN = China CY = Cyprus DE = Germany DD = former German Democratic Republic DK = Denmark ES = Spain FI = Finland FR = France GB = Great Britain GR = Greece IE = Ireland IL = Israel IN = India IT = Italy JP = Japan KR = Korea LU = Luxemburg MC = Monaco NL = The Netherlands PT = Portugal RU/SU = Russian Federation/former Soviet Union SE = Sweden US = United States ZA = South Africa ------------------------------------------------------------
Help About: Extended Search Options Content: A search using esp@cenet starts at the esp@cenet home page of one of the participating countries (so not only http://gb.espacenet.com ). From here, Patent documents can be searched by means of a number of options. The search options which are available from the esp@cenet homepage are:
Category 1:
** Search in the most recent 24 months of National Patent publications.. ** Search in the most recent 24 months of National Patent publications from any other participating country. ** Search in the most recent 24 months of Patent publications from the European Patent Office (EPO - EP publications) . ** Search in the most recent 24 months of Patent publications from the World International Property Organisation (WIPO - WO publications). In each of these cases it is possible to search for bibliographic information that is published on the front page of a patent document, including the title of the document in its original publication language.
Category 2:
** Search in patents published worldwide. ** Search in Japanese patents. In each of these cases it is possible to search in the same bibliographicdata as for Category 1 above, and in titles and abstracts of the documents in the English language.
Selecting any of these links will present the corresponding search form for entering the search criteria for the chosen search option. Further Reading Using esp@cenet ------------------------------------------------------------
The User Interface Quick Searches Extended Search Options Performing a Search Displaying Results Displaying Documents The Shopping Basket ------------------------------------------------------------
National Publications Other National Publications EP Publications WO Publications Worldwide publications Japanese Publications
To search the most broad possible Esp@ceNet patent coverage, you have to search in the "Worldwide Publications". Following is a description of the coverage from which year on you can find patents per country.
About Coverage of the Worldwide Publications Description: In the table below, the coverage of documents for worldwide patents is displayed. The column "Bibliographic Data" indicates the starting date from which patent data is almost completely available. The last column indicates the coverage of facsimile images in the database. Note: The entry "unique" in the last column means that for this country only those documents are covered for which no patent family member is available in the PCT minimum documentation. Update frequency: The database is updated on a weekly basis. More information: Information on the most recent documents in the collection will soon be available on this page. Coverage:

LaBTop Moderator posted 04-09-2000 04:28 PM ------------------------------------------------------------ Yep, that patent is the original E.Merck Darmstadt Patent from the Kaiserliches Patentamt from 24 Dezember 1912, effective at 16 Mai 1914. Rhodium, this would be nice to put on your page, as a nostalgic reminder how long humanity allready knew about this wonderfull compound: http://l2.espacenet.com/dips/bnsviewer?CY=gb&LG=en&DB=EPD&PN=DE274350&ID=DE++++274350A++I+ It is in Adobe Acrobat .pdf format, and you can save the 3 pages to disk. Use the NEXT button to get the remaining 2 pages. If you want a patent, use EspaceNet, it's wonderfull. LT/ ------------------------------------------------------------
The above to remind you that you seem to miss a lot of posts sometimes, so make people more aware that they must send you per PM interesting stuff for your pages, I also did not know how frequently you checked posts. I've been searching all patent sites for three days now, and could not find this patent back myself anymore, and if you fill in DE274350 in Esp@ceNet Worldwide Search, you don't get anything.
So I did a quick search in the old database, with Search words : Merck patent, and Username LaBTop, and in Newbee forum, and directly found it back: Post 125913 (Lonewanderer: "How do you make MDMA?", Newbee Forum)
So they have blocked certain parts of the Esp@ceNet search now, or they are doing maintenance or whatever.
This line should give you the possibility to include on your page all German patents for Esp@ceNet. British patents differ only in that DE is changed to GB. Other countries : change the country abbreviation to the one in the list above, and then fill in 2 places your patent number you found in literature. Japanese patents is a different database, go and check it out yourself, if you have a japanese patent nr, click the Japanese database on the opening page of Esp@cenet. LT/
PS : If one of you need badly a patent, use this service NOW, it looks as if it will not stay so freely accessible in the near future, they are allready fummbling around with it, it's not so easy as before anymore. They even say somewhere in the Help files that they feel free to withdraw the whole service if the need for that should arise, so you are warned...

LaBTop (Moderator) 08-04-00 08:18 Re: Patent and chemistry research
To find a text within a patent research, you can use the following links, and in those links are other links to use. Derwent is the most sophisticated search, but costs money, and a lot of understanding before you get the grip of it. IBM-miner is simpler, but goes not so far back as Esp@ceNet.
A text search can reveil a lot of information on a certain subject, which you will never find in a literature search, the global chemistry research is packed for ~ 90% in patent databases and the likes, and for only 40 to 60% in the literature. Here are some of the more interesting pages :
http://l2.espacenet.com/dips/bnsviewer?CY=gb&LG=en&DB=EPD&PN=DE274350&ID=DE++++274350A++I+ ( B3 esp@cenet - Facsimile image display DE274350 ) http://gb.espacenet.com/ ( B1 - esp@cenet - your gateway to patents ) You see the difference here : B1 and B3, and l2 and l3, so keep that in mind also. http://www.cas.org/ONLINE/DBSS/caoldss.html ( CAOLD Database Summary Sheet ) http://www.cas.org/ONLINE/DBSS/caplusss.html ( CAplus Database Summary Sheet ) http://www.uspto.gov/patft/index.html ( Databases Patent Full-Text and Bibliographic ) http://patent.womplex.ibm.com/ ( Delphion Intellectual Property Network , IBM Patent Server Home Page ) http://patent.womplex.ibm.com/promo/vendors/wisdomain/PL-II_promo ( Wisdomain PatentLab-II ) http://www.patente.bmbf.de/frameset.asp?seite=inform/inhalt_3.htm ( Der BMBF Patenteserver ) http://www.derwent.com/ ( Derwent Information - Patent information and searching of intellectual property, scientific inventions, research, discovery etc.) http://www.derwent.com/resource/frameset.html ( Derwent - The Home of Patent and Scientific Information on the Internet) http://www.derwent.com/dii/index.html ( Derwent - Patent and Scientific Info - Derwent Innovations Index DII Vers.2.0 ) http://www.derwent.com/resource/start.html ( Derwent - Patent and Scientific Info - Customer Area - Getting started Online ) http://www.ipmatters.net/misc/links.html ( IP Matters the Derwent guide to Intellectual Property ) http://www.dpma.de/links/links.html ( DPMA - Internet-Links ) http://www.dpma.de/links/wpd.html ( DPMA - Links zu weiteren Patentdatenbanken ) http://www.dpma.de/ ( DPMA ) http://stnweb.fiz-karlsruhe.de/BASScgi/6/0-0019652982431-965298245?Action=ClusterTmpl&Cluster=PATENTS ( stnweb.fiz-karlsruhe.de-PATENTS) http://patents.fiz-karlsruhe.de/portal/pat/pat_int.html ( Patent Databases with International Coverage ) http://patents.fiz-karlsruhe.de/ ( Patent Information @ FIZ Karlsruhe ) http://patents.fiz-karlsruhe.de/stn/sneakprev/sneak.html ( STN Sneak Peek - Introduction to Online Searching ) http://stneasy.fiz-karlsruhe.de/html/english/login1.html ( STN Easy Access to selected databases of STN International ) http://www.cas.org/training/stncommands/search.html ( STN Commands - SEARCH ) http://www.bustpatents.com/ ( Internet Patent News - Source Translation & Optimization Patent Web Site ) http://metalab.unc.edu/patents/intropat.html ( STO's Internet Patent Search System ) http://www.european-patent-office.org/ ( European patent office ) http://www.uspto.gov/ ( US Patent and Trademark Office Home Page ) http://www.patent.gov.uk/ ( The British Patent Office - home page ) http://164.195.100.11/netahtml/srchnum.htm ( US Patent Full-Text Database Number Search )
