does anyone know where on the web one can find information about mechanisms for specific reactions? there seems to be nothing out there (i guess i'll have to go to the library AGAIN...dammit)

There are quite a number of "named reaction" sites, many with animated diagrams of the mechanisms. Use any of the major search engines, and you'll have your hands full for days.

kalista - why don't you post something on the mechanisms you want to know about?
This forum is probably the place, and it hasn't exactly been busy lately.
I could use some practise playing with electrophiles and nucleophiles.
Besides, it might be interesting!
