2,5-Dimethoxybenzaldehyde is added to 2-HEAF, stirred until thick and left overnight. The crystalline mass is treated with water, stirred for a while, filtered and the subsequently dried mass recrystallised twice from IPA. Yield is almost quantitative.
[2-heac.nitroaldol.condensation] 2 grams of the finely grounded nitrostyrene are added in small portions to a stirred solution of 2.8 grams of NaBH4, 22 ml of H2O and 22 ml of IPA and allowed to react for 30 minutes. Then 0.15 g CuCl2 in 15 ml H2O is added and the mixture is refluxed for 30 minutes. After cooling, GAA is added to PH 4 and the alcohol is distilled off, alkalised with NaOH solution and extracted three times with 20 ml DCM. The collected organic layer is washed with brine and dilut NaOH solution, acidified to PH 4 with HCl and extracted with H2O. After evaporation, the resulting mass is recrystallized from IPA. |
