The first test of the hopefully much-used new feature, Advanced Quick Reply. I know you'll like this one - it's nice and easy..

Y'welcome... Also, I changed the linking structure of the scrolling marquee on index.php; now clicking a link will take you to the last post in the topic instead of the top of the first page.

Wow. Both features are very nice. I especially like linking to the last page from the scrolling marquee.... but you know how I love that scrolling marquee. Wink

Oops, I just noticed that the RE: <original title of thread> is not appearing in posts. I'm assuming that this is at least somewhat related to the new "Quick Reply:" feature. Correct me if I'm wrong, primathon.

P.S., I didn't use the quick reply feature for this one

You are most definately correct. I'm gonna have to get in there and hack around, see if I can implement that. I love it... put one feature in that nullifies another... Great. Ah well, such is life...

The hive files I just doesn't seem to exist, and the hive files II seems not to get search results once the hive files were incorporated with the synthetikal files.....why can't the Hive files have a search by themselves as they are an archive aside from the synthetikal archives.....or at least add on the google search engine an option to just search the hive alone ..........java

Is there problems with the search engine for this site? I may have encountered a search problem when trying to find the link to the Azeotrope database, that I had seen before.

I went the the search page, entered "Azeotrope" as the search string, and got no results returned. After browsing the forums for a while, I found the thread: "Azeotrope database:" in the "Links" forum.

Why did this not turn up in my search? Does the search function search the "Links" forum? I almost posted asking for the link. I would have most certainly gotten the good ol' UTFSE.... but TFSE wouldn't find it anyway. This could have resulted in total chaos!

EDIT: I just tried a few other search tems for the hell of it, and I still got no results. I am using WindowsXP SE (OS) and FireFox1.0.3 (Browser). Has anyone else had the same problem?

I find myself going through each file of the hive to find what I'm looking for as the search engine isn't working well for the hive archives and when they are found they are formated in a synthetikal page and they seem to be trimmed..........give me back the regular search finction for the hive archives alone...................java

Alright! Now the Quick Reply correctly populates the subject field with "re: <subject>"... Now, onto the next task! Ahoy!

Okay, let me know what you guys think about the recent topics control here:

https://www.synthetikal.com/synthforum/index2.php

It took a LONG goddamn time to hack this together. If it doesn't display correctly on anyone's browser, lemme know... I know it will break Netscape 4, but if you (or anyone you know) is/are using that hellish browser, let me know and I will personally come over there and hit them/you upside the head. There's no excuse not to use FireFox...

</rant>

Enjoy...

What has changed/what is different? Anyone?

Any word on the search engine thing that I mentioned above?

When I am logged in, the forum index (list of all the forum categories) is moved to the right. After the statement "The time now is <date/time>", the forum index starts. I don't mean on the next line; I mean the the very next character to the right is the upper left corner of the box containing the forum index.

The search engine thing is going to have to wait... Sorry it sucks so horribly bad... Hell, Google probably has better results here than our own engine... phpBB is great in a lot of aspects, but the search engine is most definately not one of them.

Anyway, the link above (/index2.php) is no longer valid, as it's the old site index (always keep backups). /index.php should be displaying the new 'recent topics' scroller, which everyone seems to like... I guess... Anyway, as for your error, there is no reason whatsoever you should be getting that, especially with any halfway decent browser (you said you were using FireFox, right?)... I'm in FF 1.0.4, and it works perfectly. Hit refresh once or twice and see if anything happens... If not, PM me and I'll help you troubleshoot it...
